Personalised Wealth Management at its Best

Portfolio Management Services is a professional investment service where a SEBI-registered portfolio manager invests your money directly in securities — stocks, bonds, cash — on your behalf, with full transparency and a strategy tailored to your goals.

  • 👤
    Your Own Dedicated Portfolio Manager
Unlike mutual funds where your money pools with thousands of others, PMS assigns you a dedicated portfolio manager who manages your account individually — with your specific goals in mind.
  • 🔍
    Direct Ownership of Securities
In PMS, securities are held directly in your own Demat account in your name — not in a pooled fund. You see exactly what you own, when it was bought, and at what price.
  • 🎯
    Strategy Tailored to You
Your portfolio strategy is built around your financial goals, investment horizon, risk appetite, and existing holdings — not a one-size-fits-all mandate designed for mass distribution.
  • 📊
    Full Transparency & Reporting
Monthly portfolio statements, detailed transaction reports, and regular performance reviews — you always know exactly what's happening with your money and why each position is held.

Wealth, Managed the Way It Should Be

Portfolio Management Services (PMS) is a professional investment offering regulated by SEBI, designed for investors whose wealth has outgrown off-the-shelf products. Instead of buying units of a pooled fund, your capital is invested directly in a portfolio of carefully selected securities held in your own Demat account — managed day-to-day by a dedicated, SEBI-registered portfolio manager working within a mandate agreed with you.

At Nikunj, PMS begins with understanding you — your goals, investment horizon, tax situation, risk appetite, and existing holdings. Your portfolio manager then constructs a focused portfolio of 15–20 high-conviction companies, backed by research reports from registered research providers, and manages it actively through market cycles: buying when opportunity emerges, trimming when risk builds, and reporting every decision to you with a clear rationale.

The result is wealth management that is personal, transparent, and accountable. You always know what you own and why. With 30+ years of equity market experience and a client-first culture, Nikunj PMS is built for investors who want their capital treated with the seriousness it deserves. The minimum investment is ₹50 lakhs, as mandated by SEBI for all PMS providers. Investments are subject to market risks; returns are not guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions investors ask us most before starting PMS.

The minimum investment in any PMS in India is ₹50 lakhs, as mandated by SEBI under the SEBI (Portfolio Managers) Regulations, 2020. This applies uniformly to all SEBI-registered PMS providers. There is no upper limit — PMS can accommodate portfolios of any size above this threshold.

The key differences are ownership, customisation, and minimum investment. In PMS, you directly own the individual securities in your own Demat account — not units of a pooled fund. Your portfolio can be customised to your goals, and you can request exclusion of specific sectors or companies. Mutual funds pool your money with thousands of other investors and offer a standardised mandate. PMS is suited for investors with larger corpora who want a tailored, transparent, and more personalised approach.

In Discretionary PMS, the portfolio manager makes all investment decisions independently — buying, selling, and rebalancing within the agreed strategy — without needing your approval for each transaction. This allows the PM to act swiftly when opportunities or risks emerge. You define the strategy, risk limits, and any exclusions upfront in the Investment Policy Statement. The PM then manages the portfolio within that mandate. All transactions are reported to you in real time.

PMS fee structures typically include a fixed management fee (charged as a percentage of AUM annually) and optionally a performance fee (charged on returns above a pre-agreed hurdle rate). Specific fee details for Nikunj PMS are provided during the onboarding discussion and are fully disclosed in the PMS agreement and disclosure document as required by SEBI. Please speak with your Nikunj PM for current fee terms.

PMS accounts typically have a lock-in period defined in the agreement — commonly one year — after which partial or full redemption is permitted subject to notice period and exit load provisions (if any). Since PMS portfolios are invested in listed equities, liquidation is generally possible within the settlement period once the lock-in expires. Specific terms are detailed in the PMS agreement. We recommend discussing your liquidity needs upfront with your PM before investing.

Since securities are held in your own name in PMS, each transaction triggers capital gains tax in your hands — unlike mutual funds where tax is deferred until you redeem units. Long-term capital gains (held 12+ months) on equity are taxed at 12.5% above ₹1.25 lakh. Short-term gains are taxed at 20%. Your PM is mindful of this and aims to minimise unnecessary churn that would generate short-term tax liabilities. Consult a qualified tax advisor for your specific situation.

Your investments in Nikunj PMS are held directly in your own Demat account in your name — not in a common pool or fund vehicle. Nikunj as the portfolio manager never takes custody of your funds or securities. All transactions are exchange-settled and reported transparently. Nikunj is SEBI-registered under the PMS Regulations, 2020, which mandate strict governance, segregation of client assets, and regular reporting. Investments are subject to market risks — returns are not guaranteed and the value of your portfolio can go up or down.
